Was hoping I could get the more experienced input of folks here on a couple things.

Purchased a 27' iMac with the 7700k (4.2 GHz) processor, 1 TB SSD, and will up the RAM to 32 GB or so myself. Comes with the Radeon Pro 580.
After institutional discount and taxes: $3,000. I'm currently an all-Apple home but never hated Windows in the first place. This is my first iMac. I like minimalism and enjoy things which work well together. I plan on gaming some (think BF1, GTA 5, some newer games). I realize medium-high graphics settings will likely necessitate dropping down to 1440p but, as is 1:2 to the native resolution of the panel, presumably should still look nice and not artifacted.
The remainder of my computer work is not overly demanding and does not include any meaningful photo/video rendering work.
My primary alternative would have been a boutique 'PC', like Falcon Northwest's Tiki. Same CPU, faster M.2 SSD (presumably -- who knows about the new SSDs), and a significantly faster nVidia 1080 Ti GPU, plus a decent monitor for gaming would have run me somewhere around $3,500 - $4,000, cons being not an all-in-one and losing the option to use macOS, and perhaps having a lesser all-purpose (but better gaming?) monitor.

So, all that being said:
1: For those who play fast-paced games (FPSs, etc) on 27' iMac 5K monitors, do you have any ghosting or other issues on account of response time / other monitor issues?
2: For the use case above, understanding I'm in the macgaming subreddit, is there anyone who would opt for the FNW approach given the appreciable hardware upgrade that came to the iMacs with WWDC?
